CHD Elektroservis   CRX8-M MIDI Interface (Model 8-449, v. 1.0) - Help

System Parameter Request ^^^^^
Generated message is request for value of selected parameter.

System Parameter Load ^^^^^
These parameters affect basic functions of the interface. They are valid for each of drum instruments and MIDI notes.

MIDI Channel
Number of MIDI channel used for communication with host MIDI system can be selected with the parameter.

Velocity Priority
In "Note" mode, method of processing of velocities values can be selected with the parameter when more MIDI notes are received simultaneously.

Velocity Curve
In "Note" mode, conversion curve for sensitivity of MIDI notes velocity can be selected with the parameter.

Noise Gate Delay
In "Note" mode, delay before noise gate closing can be selected with the parameter. Range is from 100 to 1360 ms, step is 20 ms.

Guiro Short Duration
In "Note" mode, duration of sounding of Guiro Short generator can be selected with the parameter. Range is from 20 to 398 ms, step is 6 ms.

Guiro Long Duration
In "Note" mode, duration of sounding of Guiro Long generator can be selected with the parameter. Range is from 50 to 1310 ms, step is 20 ms.

Volume Control Mode
In "Note" mode, output level of the instrument is controlled via CC7 and/or CC11 in dependence of the parameter setting.

MIDI Tempo Multiplier
Tempo of instrument's internal sequencer can be doubled (value "x2") in "Clock" working mode when the tempo is driven by MIDI clock.

Note Assignment Request ^^^^^
Generated message is request for values of assignment of selected MIDI note.

Note Assignment Load ^^^^^
These parameters define properties of CR-68/78's sound for every of MIDI notes independently:

MIDI Note Nr.
Selection of requested MIDI Note for definition.

Assigned Instrument
Any instrument (sound generator) of CR-68/78 can be assigned to selected MIDI note. However, "None" instrument can be selected too. It means no sound generator is activated by that MIDI note - MIDI note is ignored. Symbols of assigned instruments are:

  • "None" - none instrument, MIDI Note is ignored
  • "BD" - Bass Drum
  • "SD" - Snare Drum
  • "RS" - Rim Shot
  • "HB" - High Bonga
  • "LB" - Low Bonga
  • "LC" - Low Conga
  • "CB" - Cow Bell
  • "MA" - Maracas
  • "HH" - High Hat
  • "CY" - Cymbal
  • "CL" - Claves
  • "TS" - Short Tambourine *)
  • "TL" - Long Tambourine *)
  • "GS" - Short Guiro *)
  • "GL" - Long Guiro *)
  • "MB" - Metallic Beat *)
  • "SD+RS" - Snare Drum + Rim Shot (combination of two sound generators)
  • "HH+MB" - High Hat + Metallic Beat (combination of two sound generators) *)
  • "CY+MB" - Cymbal + Metallic Beat (combination of two sound generators) *)
  • "CB+MB" - Cow Bell + Metallic Beat (combination of two sound generators) *)
Note: *) Usage ony with CR-78 instrument.

Dynamic Range Min
Output level of corresponding sound generator if velocity of a MIDI Note is equal to 1 *).

Dynamic Range Max
Output level of corresponding sound generator if velocity of a MIDI Note is equal to 127 *).

Note: *) Two previous parameters set dynamic response to velocity of MIDI Note. They define margins of dynamic range. For other value of velocity (2 to 126), output level of sound generator is linearly interpolated between minimal and maximal levels:

Value of "Dynamic Range Max" parameter must be greater than or equal to value of "Dynamic Range Min" parameter. In other case, values of parameters inserted by user are corrected automatically.

Direct Control ^^^^^
Generated message controls the interface's hardware directly:

Save Edit Buffer
The command stores temporary data from edit buffer to memory bank of the interface.

Set DCA
The command sets gain of digitally controlled amplifier.

LED - Indicator
The command sets indication LED on the instrument's panel to Off or On state.

LED - On Board
The command sets red LED on the inteface's board to Off or On state.

SW Vwr. Request
The command is inquiry for the number of version of installed operational system. Immediately after the inquiry receiving the interface transmits the SysEx message:
F0 00 20 21 ii 65 50 04 dd xx F7 [hex]
where particular nibbles of databyte give number of installed software version. For example, byte 10h denotes the version 1.0.

Memory Test
The command executes complete test of internal interface's memory. The test takes about 3 seconds. After end of the test, the interface transmits SysEx message with info about result of the test:
F0 00 20 21 ii 65 50 05 00 46 F7 [hex] - if the memory works correctly
F0 00 20 21 ii 65 50 05 01 45 F7 [hex] - if any malfunction was detected during the test

Reset
The command executes reset of the interface.
If "HW" is selected, the hardware reset of the interface is executed. The interface is set to the same status as after the instrument is switched on.
If "Factory" is selected, complete Factory Reset is executed. The interface is initialized to the factory status (all parameters are set to the default values). WARNING - All data stored by user in the internal memory are fully erased during execution of the command.

SysEx Message ^^^^^
Text form of generated SysEx Message can be set with help of two select-boxes:

Select Hex Byte Form
Text form of generated hexadecimal bytes can be chosen by this select-box. Requested form must be selected before any "Generate" button is pressed.

Select Delimiter
Delimiter between generated hexadecimal bytes can be chosen by this select-box. Requested delimiter must be selected before any "Generate" button is pressed.

"Reset" button
"Reset" button clears the text field and sets all select-boxes to default values.
