MP-KBD: Korg Mono / Poly MIDI Interface

SPECIFICATION ^^^^^

MP-KBD MIDI retrofit enables your Korg Mono / Poly to be controlled via MIDI. You can remotely control the keyboard and speed of the arpeggiator by MIDI commands. The instrument then works like MIDI sound expander. All working modes of the instrument and controllers on instrument's panel stay fully workable with installed interface.

Features:

  • Instrument's keyboard can be controlled manually and by MIDI Note On/Off commands simultaneously.
  • The keyboard can be transposed in whole range of MIDI notes.
  • Four modes of key priority can be chosen: Last / Higher / Lower / None.
  • Tone generators can be tuned by MIDI Pitch Wheel command. The bend range is from 0 to ±2 octaves.
  • Arpeggiator can be synchronized with internal tempo generator or external MIDI clock.
  • Number of MIDI channel for communication is user programmable. OMNI mode can be chosen, alternatively.
  • Default values of all parameters are user programmable - they can be stored into internal memory.

VERSIONS ^^^^^

Two versions of MP-KBD MIDI interface are available due to some differences between Mono / Poly instruments produced by Korg in process of time.
The difference is in connectors used for KLM-356 board inside the instrument.
It is important to check which version of KLM-356 board is installed inside the instrument before the interface ordering:

1) Unscrew the three screws from the bottom of the instrument and four screws on the front panel.

2) Lift off carefully the instrument front panel.

3) Keyboard connector is placed on left side of KLM-356 board. Check which version of the connector is used.

Then specify requested version "A" or "B" of the interface in an order (in dependence on detected version of KLM-356 board of your instrument).

INSTALLATION ^^^^^

Installation of the MIDI interface into Mono / Poly instrument is very easy. No problems occur if work operation complies with the conditions described in installation manual. All original features of the Mono / Poly instrument are not changed and the instrument can be used by the same way as before the modification. It is possible to remove the interface and to return the instrument to original nascent at any time.

The kit package contains:

  1. MIDI Interface board
  2. Interconnection cables and connectors including all assembly units.
  3. CD-ROM with user and installation manuals and software
